Denny Crane… remember the name? yes? I am talking about the very talented William Shatner. Born on march 22,1931, he is a Canadian actor, recording artist and author. Some of his famous works include portrayal of James T. Kirk in the television series Star trek. Boston legal is his most recent success for which he won 2 Emmy’s and a Golden globe award too.
There were many stories about him but the most circulated one was “Does William Shatner wear a wig?” There were different opinions by different people in this article i will be giving you some evidence and opinions so that you can figure out what the truth behind this is.
Now i will be giving some explanations of people which support that William Shatner does wear a wig.
1. As his hair was thinn
ing in his younger years of star trek and now he has a full head of hair so this cant be possible without the use of wig or some sort of surgery.
2.Some other arguments which are common are he wears a toupee or he had hair plugs at some point of time some kind of hair-weaving or hair replacement procedure by ST IV, which is why he insisted on doing the dangerous underwater stunt – to show off the new work.
3.Some say he wore a small hairpiece that covered his thinning front. You could detect it on screen once or twice but the easiest way to see it is when he wasn’t wearing it for the old age scenes in The Deadly Years. After watching that episode again this weekend, you can really tell that his hairpiece is missing.
4.There are many pictures available on net which show that William Shatner wore a wig but those cant be trusted because now with the advancement in the field of image processing any image can be modified.
Some even say they watched Star trek shows in prime time and agree that he was having thin hair in some of the episodes where it’s limp from being under the lights. His hairline was definitely receding, but it wasn’t at a huge rate that he had to wear a wig.
No doubt at all he was wearing a rug in the movies, and certainly in TJ Hooker, which has to be the worst rug ever.
Now we should hear what William Shatner himself has to say on this issue. In a May 2008 interview with the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, William Shatner voluntarily denied that he was wearing a toupee. He said “Actually, I wasn’t wearing a corset,’ he corrects. ‘I had fallen off a horse and broken some ribs. I had to be strapped up and some kind soul told the tabloids I’d got so beefy that I needed a corset to get into Kirk’s costume.’ Shatner smiles broadly, his earlier introspective mood erased. ‘And no, it isn’t a toupee,’ he says, tugging his hair.”
